Dave Crespo & The Afterparty at the Middle East Upstairs this Saturday – Win Free Tickets!

Dave Crespo and the Afterparty know how to have a good time. They’ve been playing their catchy Boston-oriented pop rock all over the city in support of their newly released album, culminating in an opening slot for Marcy Playground’s recent tour back in August and a spot on the Main Stage at the P-Town Fest in July. Crespo’s been a staple in the Boston scene for years, booking shows, organizing open mic nights, and playing and promoting tirelessly. In 2007 he teamed up with vocalist Cary Wells to form The Afterparty, featuring a soulful male-female duet laid over honest alternative pop rock about love, life, and the city of Boston. Now they’ll be headlining the Middle East this Saturday – and they’re giving away tons of tickets to fans both current and new! They’ll be sharing a bill with Sour D, Someday Rome, and The Flo – should be a good show! Here’s how to win:

Go to the show’s Facebook event and RSVP that you are attending – two people will be selected at random to win a pair of tickets each

Follow DCAP on Twitter to figure out the answer to the question “WHO IS JC?” Once you have your answer, send the band a direct message for your chance to win a pair of tickets

Send an e-mail to DCAPRules@myspace.com – 4 pairs of tickets will be given out to lucky winners just for e-mailing!

That’s a lot of ways to win! Here’s some footage of DCAP playing at the Regent Theater in Somerville earlier this year. Good Luck!

Halloween weekend in the city of Boston is always full of great shows by some of the best in the local music scene – and this year is certainly no exception to the rule! Every day this weekend features incredible lineups at venues all over town, along with festive bonuses such as costumes, beer, prizes, more beer, candy, some booze, covers, and more! If you weren’t planning on going out to catch any music this holiday weekend, you might reconsider after checking out this listing. Have plans to go to a party? Work around it and stop by these shows before or after the party to catch a band or two – PGB fully guarantees that each and every one of these venues has booze for you to drink while you’re there. Seriously, I promise. So get on your creepiest costume and get ready to rock out! Be sure to frighten some children on your way out to the show – you know, even more so than you do on a regular day in regular clothing… scary looking bastard.

Provincetown Rocks – The Festival: Day 4 Recap

by Bryan on Jul.30, 2009, under Media, News

vip-pass3Well, for better or for worse, we’re back in Boston now. What a crazy night to end things on. We had PGB Henchmen running all over Commercial Street, trying to get the best and most widespread coverage we could. I caught a bunch of new bands in addition to a couple I’d already seen… and I can honestly say this night was by far the most fun I had all week. We’ll have a complete festival recap for you posted up in the next couple of days, but for now here’s what went down on Saturday night.

Click for recaps of Day 1, Day 2, Day 2 continued, and Day 3.

Venue: Governor Bradford

Scene: Things got a little heated down at the Gov on Saturday. There were issues all night with the restaurant upstairs complaining that the music downstairs was too loud and bothering the customers, eventually culminating in the venue cutting off all shows until food service upstairs was over. A few bands got screwed as a result, but I feel especially bad for the Wynotts. I heard they were pushed back twice due to sound and scheduling issues, then as they were setting up for the third time they got the bad news that all music at the venue was postponed. Rather than stick around and play a shorter set later, they decided to just say fuck it. Ah well, I’ll be looking to catch them back in Boston as soon as I can (August 8th @ All Asia!). I did get there in time to catch local P-Town favorites The Antibodies prior to everything getting shut down though…
