Now here’s the info on the show:

PGB is hosting a charity fundraiser at The Rosebud Bar in Davis Square to benefit the victims of the recent Tohoku-Pacific Ocean earthquake in Japan. Local bands Gozu, Black Thai, Phantom Glue, and Cocked ‘N Loaded have been tapped to provide the evening’s entertainment, and local companies and organizations have generously contributed prizes for a raffle, all designed to raise as much money as possible for the victims of the natural disasters that struck Japan in March of 2011.

Around the northern coastal region of Tohoku, the Japanese government reported that 2,852 buildings were destroyed and over 40,000 were damaged either by earthquakes, tsunami, or fire. The tsunami waves caused the greatest destruction – an estimated 5,000 houses remain inundated with water in the Iwate prefecture, 2,000 houses were washed away in the Sendai city of Miyagi, and 1,800 houses were destroyed in nearby Fukushima. The count of houses destroyed by these disasters is also expected to increase as government assessment teams gain additional access to the affected areas.

100% of the proceeds of this fundraiser will be donated to The Japan Society’s Japan Earthquake Relief Fund, a charity that disperses contributions to various organizations on the front lines of relief and recovery in Tohoku. This organization was chosen to ensure that the entirety of the funds raised will be going directly to the people in Japan who need it most, rather than get tied up in costly administrative fees. In the spirit of charity, The Rosebud has been generous enough to donate their venue free of charge for the benefit. Furthermore, in a near-unprecedented outpouring of generosity, the bartenders have agreed to donate their tips to the cause as well! In addition, several companies, including TD Bank North America, have agreed to make direct financial donations to increase the final amount of money that will be raised by this benefit.

The event’s entertainment will be provided by four of PGB’s favorite bands, each taking time out of their busy schedules to donate their efforts to the cause. Gozu is currently working on their follow up album to their critically acclaimed debut Locust Season, available via Small Stone Records. Cocked ‘n’ Loaded is also in the writing process, expect a new release in early 2012. Black Thai has just released a split 10″ Picture Disc with Moth Eater, courtesy of Play The Assassin Records. Phantom Glue is currently recording their second album with Converge‘s Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studios in Salem. This is going to be a heavy show – some serious grooves, a lot of heads banging, a little bit of shredding, and a ton of uncontained rock spilling out across the masses.

So hey – do us a favor. If you’re getting to see all these amazing bands for such a ridiculously low price, do your part to donate a little chunk of change by buying plenty of raffle tickets and tipping the hell out of your bartenders. A couple bucks here and there might not seem like much, but it all adds up, and there are a lot of people on the other side of the world who could really use our help right now.

We’ll have some surprise guests roaming through the audience with raffle tickets, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to contribute – and potentially win some amazing stuff! Look, it’s charity – we’d rather have you voluntarily donate some of your hard-earned cash than force you to pay a steep cover at the door just to get into what we think is going to be a pretty awesome event. If you agree with us, show it – in cash!

Hope you’re as excited as we are – see you on Friday!
