PGB Pick: BLOWW with The Few, Apple Betty, Coo & Howl @ PAs Lounge, Saturday 3/26

We here at PGB try to filter through concerts as best we can, highlighting the cream of the crop so you can always be assured of a good time when you might not be so familiar with the bands playing. However, we’re in a bit of a bind this Saturday, March 26th – it’s a flat-out RIDICULOUS night for shows! Check out our calendar on the right – usually we just list one or two shows that are worth checking out. This Saturday, there are 7 different events that are guaranteed to rock your face off and leave you screaming for more! Any one of those shows is an easy PGB pick – so we want to take a minute to tell you about one that might have flown under your radar.
We here at PGB have long been fans of the Boston League Of Women’s Wrestlers. BLOWW is wildly entertaining, in every sense of the word. Girls wrasslin’, hilarious backstories and feuds, asshole announcers, collateral damage, and thoroughly insane pageantry all around – set to one of the most frantic soundtracks this town has to offer! Check out this writeup of BLOWW we did in the past for more info on the abject mayhem you can expect on Saturday in Somerville!
BLOWW has also put together an excellent bill of rockers to open the night up at PA’s Lounge. All of us PGBers absolutely love The Few‘s vintage bluesy rock, and are beyond excited for their new album to be released sometime this summer. For now, we’ll happily settle for the new songs they seem to bust out every show! Custom-made guitars and cabs, male/female split lead vox and harmonies, soul-soaring solos, and some infectiously danceable grooves… we’ll take that combo any day! We’re also very excited to see Apple Betty on this bill – three girls rocking the hell out with some punk influence and some serious garage swagger. Rounding out the evening (well actually, kicking off the evening) is the smooth soulful twang of Coo & Howl. An excellent chunk of local music, capped off with some hand-to-hand combat? Yes. Yes please. What else is there to say?
Saturday, March 26th – PA’s Lounge
