PLAYGROUND BOSTON

PGB Pick: King Hell, Neurological Damage, The Few, Frightening Dick Theatre @ Middle East Upstairs, Friday 11/5

dustThis is gonna be a crazy one! Captain Dusty, bassman for North Shore funk-metal outfit Neurological Damage, is celebrating his birthday tonight by inviting some of his favorite bands in the state to rock the Middle East Upstairs! Dusty is without a doubt the most talented bassist anyone on the PGB staff has ever seen in this state. No question – this guy is friggin’ amazing! ND is rounded out by Billy D Williams, one of the better shredders in town, Rusty McStix, a phenomenal drummer, and the categorically mental antics of frontman Vic Foresta (also of PGB Favorites The Force). If you’ve never caught ND before, now’s an excellent chance to see their abject insanity live in the flesh!

ND will be joined on stage by fellow funkmetalists King Hell, featuring a dual frontman attack and one of the most ridiculous stage shows to hit Boston in recent memory. Also featured on the bill is Frightening Dick Theatre, a staple on the North Shore experimental scene that reunites very infrequently to drop jaws and scatter senses. Who knows when the next time to catch them could be?

PGB Favorites The Few have also snuck in on this bill. While their classic rock style might seem a little out of place in this lineup, they have more than enough funk chops to handle themselves in front of this sensory onslaught. They’ve got a brand new original and a new cover or two to bust out during their set, and they’ve got a hot-off-the-press single for you to take home with you. Check out one of the new tracks right here – a PGB Exclusive!

This is sure to be a night of complete and utter madness – ND has rented out a bus and is carting a full regiment of North Shore funkheads down to Cambridge. The King Hell boys and Vic from ND will be battling back and forth for most epileptic and frantic frontman honors. New music, new merch, and new ways to have your mind blown! Tonight at the Middle East – don’t miss out!
