The New Collisions to Tour with The B52’s!

The New Collisions have had a damn impressive year, by any standard. They’ve achieved more success in the mere months of their existence than most bands do over the course of years. Lets do a quick recap of the highlights… They tapped producer Anthony Resta (Duran Duran, Blondie, Missing Persons) to record their debut EP. They hooked up with Cars keyboardist Greg Hawkes, and enlisted him to play on their record AND play live with them at their CD Release Party at TT the Bear’s (which was a sold out show with a KILLER lineup). They’ve been getting incredible press from blogs, local papers, and national publications all over the place. They’re planning on releasing their second EP this fall and will tour nationally in support of it. And now, to top it all off, 80’s legends The B52’s just up and called them out of the blue and asked them to open several dates on their east coast leg. Amazing. One of their favorite bands just gave them a call and offered them a slot on their tour.
The New Collisions are clearly on the verge of exploding onto the national stage- and perhaps the world after that! Its only a matter of time before they’ll be playing venues like the BOA Pavilion or the House of Blues, rather than small holes in the wall like the Lucky Dog in Worcester, where they have a residency the first Thursday of every month for the rest of the year.
Here’s a track off of their debut album to check out. Give it a listen, and give them a big congrats the next time you see them for their recent flurry of accomplishments. They’re doing Boston proud and putting us back on the national map as a hotbed for great new music – nice job, guys.

UPDATE: On Wednesday, August 5th it was announced that The New Collisions have been selected to open for yet another 80’s new-wave icon and a huge influence on their musical careers. Congrats to The New Collisions for earning the opportunity to open for none other than BLONDIE on August 10th down in Morristown, NJ!
ANOTHER UPDATE: Looks like the B-52’s have decided to keep The New Collisions around for a few more tour dates, adding them to their Florida and Michigan shows. Here’s hoping this trend continues and they get picked up for the rest of the tour!
