Those looking for live music on their Thursday night would do well to head to the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge tonight, where the newly minted act January Broke will be showcased on stage. Featuring intimate and passionately crafted songs executed with sound technical prowess, the trio of Jeremy Ross (guitar, vox), Cilla Bonnie (bass, vox) , and Chris DeSanty (drums), have made themselves increasingly visible since forming only months ago.

Ross, a full-time busker and recent Lizard Lounge open-mic winner, was the center of attention this spring in a Boston Globe article about musicians performing in the MBTA subways. Ross and Bonnie are also regulars on the open-mic scene, playing together at a number of venues across Boston. Chris DeSanty has been making waves hitting the skins for his band Character Nine, a NYC-based 4-piece prog/pop band, that is readying shows in the Northeast for the fall. January Broke’s performance last month at The Limelight was also raved about by David Owczarek at Dave’s Photo Blog.

Get to Lizard Lounge early, as January Broke open the night, playing with the Boston/LA bi-coastal act Even Elroy, and North Carolina’s Cougar Magnum.
