Featuring – (fri) Ryanhood, Vivian Darkbloom, Tom Thumb – (sat) Static of the Gods, The Hollow Sound, Pezzettino
Our brother in Boston bloggery, Ryan’s Smashing Life, is putting on two nights of great music at Berklee’s Cafe 939.
I like to think Ryan selected Tuscon Arizona’s Ryanhood based on his affinity with their name alone (although he does have great taste in music so I’m sure there’s something good there). Also on the lineup is acoustic guitar and banjo ace Tom Thumb, and Boston’s own Vivian Darkbloom.
I highly recommend checking out Vivian Darkbloom singer/guitarist Rob Morris playing his customized “Wii-guitar.” By pressing buttons on the Wii controller (which is somehow mounted on the guitar and used as a midi controller) and cocking the guitar at various angles, he can trigger and tweak a number of interesting digital effects on the fly. Intrigued? take a look:
Saturday’s bill showcases a blend of female-fronted indie rock, folk and pop-punk. Top local acts Static of The Gods and Hollow Sound (who performed this year at the Austin SXSW Festival) will be rocking out alongside the acclaimed Pezzettino (Night Owl Records), who hail from Milwaukee, WI.
